No two sash windows are the same and as a result  the amount of work required to achieve a quality and lasting result will be unique to each individual window and will be hilighted upon survey. However, below you will find a list of operations we carry out when performing our full restoration service. Not all windows will require the full service only part of it.

  • Cover working areas with protective dust sheets

  • Remove both sashes.

  • Overhaul of both box and sashes including burning off paint, treating and repairing any rot including sanding and replacing loose putty. The sashes often need plaining to fit. In rare instances timber may need to be added if the sashes are too small.

  • All loose sash joints are repaired and tightened.

  • Rebates are then machined into the sashes to take pile carriers and brush pile.

  • Both sashes and box are primed / undercoated and top coated.

  • The sashes and weights are balanced . The window is then reassembled with new pulleys and sash chord.

  • New redwood parting bead and staff bead, both with discreet integrated draught strip, are used to assemble the window.

  • New locks and sashlifts are fitted.

  • New improved security such as window restrictors and sash bolts are fitted.

All of our work is guaranteed for five years
